Hyundai Motor India has revealed that its pre-owned vehicle division, Hyundai Promise, achieved sales of 157,503 pre-owned cars in 2024. This marks a growth rate of 5.8 percent, making it the highest annual sales recorded for the pre-owned car initiative.
Notably, the figures from Hyundai Promise include 35,553 certified pre-owned vehicle sales, which account for 23 percent of the total volume and reflect an 8 percent year-on-year growth. The company indicated that the Hyundai i20, Creta, and Grand i10 were the top-selling models, collectively representing 55 percent of the overall sales.
Moreover, SUVs comprised 21 percent of the certified pre-owned vehicle sales, with the Creta contributing 13 percent and the Venue 8 percent to the total sales of Hyundai Promise. Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer of HMIL, noted that SUV models like the Venue and Creta retain over 70 percent of their original price even after three years.
He also pointed out that the pre-owned car market in India has significant potential for enhancement in areas such as transparency, trust, and reliability. Hyundai Promise ensures that all vehicles undergo a stringent 161-point inspection before being made available on the platform.
To guarantee reliability and a new-car-like ownership experience, certified pre-owned vehicles from Hyundai Promise come with additional benefits, including a one-year comprehensive warranty for cars under seven years old and a six-month warranty for the engine and transmission for vehicles aged between seven and ten years. Furthermore, all certified pre-owned cars include roadside assistance and up to two complimentary services at no additional charge.
