Among them, two of India's leading manufacturers, Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki, have been generating public interest by releasing images and videos of their forthcoming electric SUVs—the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.
The Hyundai Creta Electric and the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara are among the most eagerly awaited SUVs, both set to make their debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Below is a comparative analysis of these SUVs based on their specifications.
Hyundai Creta EV vs Maruti e Vitara: Battery and performance
The Creta EV will be available with two battery options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh, offering an ARAI-certified range of 390 km and 473 km, respectively. The 42 kWh variant generates 135 PS, while the 51.4 kWh variant delivers 171 PS. Hyundai asserts that the larger battery model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Additionally, the vehicle can achieve a charge level of 10 to 80 percent in 58 minutes when utilizing a DC fast charger, or it can be fully charged in 4 hours with an 11 kW AC wall box charger.

The e-Vitara is constructed on Suzuki's Heartect-e skateboard platform, which has been co-developed in collaboration with Toyota. It will be available with two battery configurations: a 49 kWh battery that is coupled with a 142 bhp front motor, and a 61 kWh battery that generates 172 bhp. Both configurations offer a torque output of 189 Nm. Additionally, an all-wheel-drive variant equipped with dual motors delivers 181 bhp and 300 Nm of torque, utilizing Suzuki's e-AllGrip technology to enhance traction. The larger battery option is anticipated to provide a range of up to 550 km.

The Creta EV is equipped with dual 10.25-inch displays for both the infotainment system and the instrument cluster. It features a steering wheel inspired by the new Kona, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and power-adjustable seats, automatic climate control, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology. In terms of safety, this SUV includes a 360-degree camera, a digital key, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that encompass Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Smart Cruise Control with stop-and-go capabilities. Additionally, the Creta EV introduces first-in-segment active air flaps designed to enhance aerodynamics and improve battery cooling.
The interior of the e-Vitara significantly departs from its internal combustion engine counterpart, showcasing floating dual screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. It features a glossy black floating center console that houses gear and drive mode controls, a wireless charging pad, and leatherette upholstery. The design also incorporates a two-spoke steering wheel, rectangular air conditioning vents with brushed silver accents, and a rotary selector for drive modes.
