Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) concluded the financial year 2024-25 with total sales reaching 126,151 units, reflecting a slight increase from 124,173 units in the previous fiscal year. This equates to a modest year-on-year growth of 1.59 percent for the company. Domestic sales accounted for 65,925 units, while exports surged to 60,226 units, marking Honda's highest export volume to date and a remarkable 60 percent increase compared to the previous year.
In March 2025, HCIL recorded domestic sales of 7,228 units alongside exports of 4,656 units. In comparison to March 2024, when the company achieved local sales of 7,071 units and exports of 6,860 units, this indicates a 14.7 percent decrease in total sales for March.
Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at HCIL, noted that the company's performance aligned with broader market trends. Despite facing challenges in domestic demand, robust exports of the Elevate to Japan helped sustain growth. He also mentioned that the third-generation Honda Amaze has further solidified the company's presence in the family sedan segment.
Third-gen Honda Amaze
The third-generation Honda Amaze was introduced in December 2024, with a starting price of ₹7.99 lakh, ex-showroom. In January 2025, the model's pricing was revised, beginning at ₹8.09 lakh, all ex-showroom. In its latest iteration, the Honda Amaze maintains its competition with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which also received updates last year, in addition to the Hyundai Aura and the Tata Tigor.
The Honda Amaze is still powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering 89 bhp and a maximum torque of 110 Nm. This engine is paired with both a 5-speed manual transmission and a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The standout feature of the 2024 Amaze is its status as the most budget-friendly vehicle in the Indian market, equipped with an Advanced Driver Aids System. Additionally, it boasts LED lighting, an expanded touchscreen infotainment system, projector fog lamps, remote engine start, a semi-digital driver's display, and connected car technology. Furthermore, it includes a 6-speaker audio system and a lane watch camera.
