The subcompact sedan segment has recently experienced a series of updates, beginning with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, followed by the Honda Amaze and the Tata Tigor. The Amaze received its update in December 2024, while the Tigor was refreshed in January 2025. Unlike the Amaze, which underwent a comprehensive redesign with new features, the Tigor primarily received a facelift, incorporating minor design modifications and additional features.

With this update, the Tigor introduced a new top-tier variant, the XZ Plus Lux, whereas the highest trim for the 2024 Amaze is the ZX. Below is a comparison of these two premium variants.

The fully equipped Honda Amaze ZX boasts ED projector headlights with daytime running lights (DRLs), LED taillights, a shark-fin antenna, and body-colored outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), complemented by dual-tone 15-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it features a wireless phone charger, rear air conditioning vents, a rear defogger, a push-button start/stop, and remote engine start functionality exclusive to the CVT variant.

The top variant of the 2025 Tata Tigor is fitted with 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, available only in the petrol model, while the CNG variant features 14-inch wheels. Furthermore, it includes front fog lamps, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, auto-folding ORVMs, and a shark fin antenna. Chrome-lined door handles enhance its premium appearance.

The interior boasts a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system developed by Harman, featuring wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is further enhanced by four tweeters that elevate the audio experience. Additional amenities include a push-button start/stop, fully automatic climate control, a cooled glove compartment, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a front Type-C charging port, a vanity mirror, and magazine pockets. On the safety side, this variant is equipped with a 360-degree camera system and a tire pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). It also includes an electronic stability program (ESP) and hill hold control (HHC).

In the comparison of Honda Amaze ZX and Tata Tigor XZ Plus Lux, both variants of the Honda Amaze are powered by the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder engine, with a choice between a 5-speed manual or a CVT transmission. Conversely, the XZ Plus Lux variant of the Tata Tigor is exclusively available with a manual transmission for both petrol and CNG powertrains.

The Tata Tigor is equipped with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which can be paired with either a five-speed manual or an automated manual transmission. In the petrol variants, this engine generates 85bhp and 113Nm of torque, while the CNG variants produce 72bhp and 95Nm of torque.

Regarding pricing, the Honda Amaze ZX with a manual transmission is priced at ₹9.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while the CVT variant is available for ₹11.20 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol variant of the Tata Tigor XZ Plus Lux is priced at ₹8.50 lakh, and the CNG variant is available for ₹9.50 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
