Honda Cars has recently become the latest automobile manufacturer in India to declare an increase in the prices of its models. The Japanese automotive leader has joined a growing list of companies, including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor, and Tata Motors, that will implement price adjustments across their portfolios starting in January of the upcoming year. This price increase will affect all models sold by Honda in India, including the newly launched Amaze sub-compact sedan, which debuted on December 4.
The company has announced that the prices of its vehicles will rise by as much as two percent beginning January 1, 2025. The extent of the price increase will vary based on the specific model selected by the consumer. Currently, Honda offers the City and Amaze sedans, along with its sole SUV, the Elevate.
Honda Cars has opted to raise the prices of the Amaze, City, and Elevate in order to alleviate some of the financial pressures resulting from the escalating costs of input materials, which affect the overall manufacturing expenses of vehicles. Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India, stated, “In light of the ongoing increase in input costs and logistics, a small portion of this impact will be transferred to customers through a price adjustment starting in the new year.”
New Honda Amaze price hike from January
The recently introduced Amaze sedan, which debuted just a few weeks ago, is set to experience a price increase. Honda has announced that the third generation of the Amaze will see a price adjustment by the second week of January. The new Amaze was launched with a starting price of ₹7.19 lakh (ex-showroom), reaching up to ₹10.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the highest variant. Additionally, Honda will maintain the sale of the second-generation Amaze sub-compact sedan, which competes with models such as the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor.
Other carmakers to announce price hike from January
Nine automobile manufacturers in India have declared their intention to increase vehicle prices across their entire range starting in January. Hyundai Motor was the pioneer in announcing this price adjustment, subsequently joined by Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, JSW MG Motor, Tata Motors, Kia, Skoda, Jeep, and Citroen.
