Hero XPulse 210 Review: A Bigger Engine, A Bigger Adventure
20 hours ago | 5 Views
In 2014, Hero MotoCorp introduced the Impulse to the Indian market, a dual-sport motorcycle that unfortunately did not gain traction and was discontinued within two years. In 2019, the company launched the XPulse 200, which gradually attracted a significant following. By 2021, Hero enhanced the motorcycle with a 4-valve engine and several other improvements. However, users consistently expressed concerns regarding the bike's power.
To address these issues, Hero MotoCorp has now unveiled the XPulse 210, positioned above the XPulse 200. As indicated by its name, the XPulse 210 features a larger engine compared to the XPulse 200 4V. Nevertheless, Hero MotoCorp asserts that the XPulse 210 offers more than just an additional 10 cc. To evaluate this assertion, the company invited us to the picturesque city of Udaipur, where they organized a route that included off-road segments, winding roads, and expansive highways.
Hero XPulse 210: How does it look?
Hero MotoCorp has enhanced the fundamental design of the XPulse 200 4V. The front features a beak-shaped mudguard paired with a circular LED headlamp, which may include a fly screen or windscreen based on the chosen variant. While the fuel tank retains its original shape, new tank shrouds have been introduced. The motorcycle is equipped with a single-piece seat and includes a tail rack at the back. Additionally, the rear tail lamp is the same model used in the Xtreme 125R.

The motorcycle features a newly designed upswept exhaust on the side, which is significantly slimmer than the unit found on the XPulse 200 4V. This design not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also produces an enjoyable sound, complete with occasional pops during downshifting. I particularly appreciated that Hero has anticipated the likelihood of customers encountering situations where the motorcycle may become stuck. To address this, they have included a grab handle located at the front, just beneath the headlight, which can be utilized to assist in pulling the motorcycle free when necessary.
Hero XPulse 210: How comfortable is it?
The riding triangle of the XPulse 210 offers a high level of comfort, featuring an adjustable high handlebar and centrally positioned foot pegs. There is sufficient space for the rider to shift and find a comfortable position. Although the seat height is 830 mm, I, standing at approximately 5 feet 8 inches, was able to place my feet flat on the ground. This is attributed to the slim design of the motorcycle's midsection, which facilitates the rider's ability to grip the bike with their legs while standing during rides.

The suspension configuration of the XPulse 210 features 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and a rear mono-shock that offers 10 levels of adjustability. The front suspension provides a travel distance of 210 mm, while the rear offers 205 mm of travel. This setup effectively absorbs various obstacles encountered by the rider, allowing the motorcycle to smoothly navigate potholes and speed bumps while preserving stability and composure even at high speeds.
Hero XPulse 210: How does it handle?

Present the Xpulse 210 with a corner, and it will exceed your expectations. Although it is designed as an adventure tourer featuring a 21-inch front wheel, the XPulse 210 handles corners impressively. It adheres to the rider's chosen path, while the tires instill confidence to accelerate further. Therefore, you will certainly relish your experience with the XPulse 210 on the winding mountain roads.
Hero XPulse 210: How does the engine perform?
This is a topic that many individuals have been eagerly anticipating. I am pleased to inform you that the XPulse 210 meets expectations. It is equipped with a 210 cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine derived from the Karizma XMR. However, the XPulse 210 features a distinct camshaft and gearing. Hero MotoCorp has optimized the engine for enhanced low-end and linear power delivery, which is evident during the ride. The engine produces a maximum power of 24.26 bhp and generates 20.7 Nm of torque. The motorcycle experiences minimal vibrations, and torque is accessible throughout the entire rev range, as Hero claims that over 70 percent of torque is available up to 3,000 rpm. This characteristic contributes to the engine's excellent tractability, allowing for smooth performance at low speeds even in higher gears.

The vehicle is equipped with a 6-speed transmission that operates smoothly and features a slip-and-assist clutch, resulting in a notably light clutch engagement. Additionally, downshifting with rev matching is straightforward. The engine performs well on highways, comfortably maintaining legal speed limits.
Hero XPulse 210: How are the brakes?

The XPulse 210 is equipped with a 276 mm petal disc brake at the front and a 220 mm petal disc brake at the rear. It features a switchable dual-channel ABS system with three selectable modes: Road, Off-road, and Rally. The braking system effectively halts the motorcycle while instilling a sense of confidence in the rider. Additionally, the tyres offer excellent grip, enhancing the overall riding experience.
Hero XPulse 210: How feature-loaded is it?
The Hero XPulse 210 features comprehensive all-LED lighting, including hazard lights, and is equipped with a tail rack. Depending on the specific variant, the motorcycle may come with either a TFT screen or an LCD display. The instrument cluster provides a wealth of information, such as real-time fuel efficiency, average fuel consumption, trip meters, and a gear position indicator. Additionally, it offers Bluetooth connectivity with navigation capabilities. The display is designed to be bright and includes day/night modes, ensuring readability even in direct sunlight.

Hero XPulse 210: Should you buy one?
Overall, I loved my time with the XPulse 210. It does everything brilliantly, Now, I am not an off-road rider so I would not be the right person to comment on that. However, with the little off-roading that I got to experience, I can say that the XPulse did inspire confidence and I was comfortable with it. The engine is now decently powerful, the ride is sublime and it is feature-equipped as well. If you are in the market for a new adventure tourer then I would definitely suggest you take a look at the XPulse 210.
Now, we asked Hero MotoCorp whether there are any plans to bring a version of XPulse 210 with alloy wheels for riders who only want to tour. To this, the brand said no as they want to keep the XPulse nameplate for off-road riding only. Also, if you want a more hardcore version then I would suggest that you wait for some time as Hero will bring the Rally kit for the XPulse 210 as well.
