Hero MotoCorp Retains Market Lead in February, Ola Electric Sales Take a Hit

Hero MotoCorp has maintained its leadership position in the Indian two-wheeler market for February 2025, achieving retail sales of 385,988 units. The domestic manufacturer captured a market share of 28.52 percent in the two-wheeler sector during the previous month, according to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). However, despite its continued dominance, Hero MotoCorp experienced a notable decline in sales compared to the figures from February of the previous year, when it recorded 414,151 units.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) secured the second position in the Indian two-wheeler market last month. The former partner of Hero MotoCorp, known for its Activa scooters, reported retail sales of 328,502 units in February 2025, translating to a market share of 24.27 percent. This figure represents a slight decrease from the 356,245 units sold in the same month the previous year.

Following Hero MotoCorp and Honda, TVS Motor Company ranked third, with retail sales of 253,499 units in February 2025, capturing a market share of 18.73 percent. In contrast to the leading two manufacturers, TVS experienced a modest increase in sales compared to the 248,621 units recorded in February 2024.

Among other competitors, Bajaj Auto reported retail sales of 153,631 units last month, a decline from the 171,561 units sold in the same month last year.

Overall, the Indian two-wheeler market saw a decrease in sales in February 2025, with a total of 1,353,280 units sold, compared to 1,444,674 units in February of the previous year.

Ather grows, Ola slides

Ather Energy emerged as the leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer, achieving sales of 11,807 units in February of this year. This represents a significant increase compared to the 9,096 units sold during the same month last year.

Conversely, Ola Electric, a prominent competitor in the electric two-wheeler sector, experienced a substantial decline in retail sales last month when compared to February of the previous year. The company sold 8,647 units of electric two-wheelers, a stark reduction from the 34,063 units recorded in the same month last year.
