The automotive sector operates at a rapid pace, making it challenging to stay informed. However, HT Auto is committed to providing timely updates on significant developments within the industry. Below is a summary of the key highlights from Monday, March 24.

Honda Activa e first ride review: Impressive but with a significant trade-off

Honda 2Wheelers India achieved sales of 2.5 million units of the Activa series in FY2024 and over 1.5 million units in the first half of FY2025. It is no surprise that the Activa is the top-selling scooter in India, with few competitors coming close to its success. Therefore, Honda's introduction of an electric variant of its best-seller is noteworthy. Anticipation has been high due to the brand's late entry into the electric scooter market. This model is not merely an Activa equipped with an electric motor; it represents a completely new scooter and signifies Honda's entry into the electric vehicle sector, alongside the new QC1. The Honda Activa e nearly qualifies as a well-appointed family electric scooter, albeit with one significant limitation.

Honda QC1 first ride review: A costly option?

Honda dominates the scooter market in India, and its entry into the electric mobility arena has been highly anticipated. There was considerable curiosity about what innovations the Japanese two-wheeler leader would introduce after maintaining its position as the market leader for an extended period. Last November, the company unveiled two new models—the Honda Activa e and QC1—as its inaugural electric scooters for India. We recently had the opportunity to test the new Honda QC1, which is positioned as the most affordable electric scooter available, in Bengaluru. Will Honda's latest offering disrupt the market?

Citroen C5 Aircross transformed into India’s first friction tester at Bengaluru airport

If you have ever spotted a yellow SUV navigating an airport taxiway or runway, it was likely a friction test vehicle. These specialized cars are designed to enhance runway safety. Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has become the first airport in India to utilize a domestically produced friction tester, based on the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV. Until now, Indian airports primarily depended on imported friction testers. For instance, Cochin International Airport uses a Volvo V90, while Saab 9-5 wagons were commonly seen in previous years for this function. The introduction of a locally manufactured option in Bengaluru marks a notable advancement.

The Revolt RV BlazeX range has been evaluated by comparing real-world performance with advertised specifications.

The electric two-wheeler market is gradually welcoming new electric motorcycles. While electric scooters have long held a dominant position, many electric vehicle manufacturers are now venturing into the electric bike segment, particularly for commuters. The latest addition to this category is the Revolt RV BlazeX, which is designed to compete with a 125cc internal combustion engine motorcycle and is priced at ₹1.14 lakh, ex-showroom. We recently tested the RV BlazeX on a go-kart track, and here are the real-world range results.

Citroen will provide substantial discounts on models such as the Basalt, Aircross, C3, and eC3 until the end of March 2025. The French automaker is offering price reductions on the 2023 models of the C3, Aircross, and eC3, while the 2024 Citroen Basalt is also available with significant incentives. This promotion comes at a time when most automakers in the country have announced price increases set to take effect in April 2025.
