Mercedes-Benz India achieved its highest annual sales to date, with 18,928 units sold in 2024-25. The German luxury automobile manufacturer attributed this success to the introduction of new products, enhancements to its dealership network, and a focus on improving customer experiences. Notably, there was a significant demand surge in the high-end luxury segment, alongside substantial growth in battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
Mercedes-Benz India FY2025 Sales
In FY2025, the demand for high-end luxury models increased by 34 percent, including vehicles such as the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, EQS SUV, and the AMG lineup. One in every four cars sold by the company during this period was a premium model. The S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach Night Series, G 580 with EQ Technology, EQS SUV, and AMG G 63 experienced particularly strong demand, with waiting times for these luxury vehicles extending up to four months and as long as a year for the AMG G 63. Consistent sales were also noted for core models, including the C-Class, E-Class LWB, GLC, and GLE SUVs.
Mercedes-Benz is set to enhance and expand its extensive network with an investment of ₹450 crores from Franchise Partners. This initiative aims to strengthen the brand's presence in both emerging and established metropolitan areas while delivering the latest global luxury retail standards. Iyer expressed confidence in the Indian market's mid to long-term potential, emphasizing a value-driven sales strategy focused on customer satisfaction and sustainable business practices.
In the first quarter of 2025, Mercedes-Benz India's entry-level segment experienced a significant decline of 28 percent.
Q1 2025 Sales
Despite finishing FY2025 on a positive note, the company reported a decrease in sales volume during the first quarter (January - March) of 2025. Sales for Q1 FY2025 totaled 4,775 units, reflecting an 11.8 percent drop, primarily due to a substantial 28 percent decline in the entry-level luxury segment, which includes models such as the GLA and A-Class. Conversely, the high-end luxury segment saw a six percent increase in the last quarter, indicating a shift in consumer preferences towards the brand's premium offerings.
Electric vehicle sales in Q1 FY25 experienced robust growth, with battery-powered models accounting for eight percent of Mercedes' overall sales. The locally assembled EQS SUV 580 and EQS SUV 480 contributed significantly to maintaining this growth trend, with the EQS SUV emerging as the top-selling electric vehicle for Mercedes in the previous fiscal year.
