For a long time, most scooters in India were limited to 125cc or less, with the exception of premium maxi-scooters from foreign manufacturers. However, in 2021, Yamaha made a bold move by launching the Aerox 155, the country’s first higher-capacity, liquid-cooled maxi-performance scooter. The Aerox 155 became an instant hit in India. Fast forward to the Auto Expo 2025, and Hero MotoCorp has now entered the segment with the Xoom 160, signaling its intention to capture a larger share of the growing premium two-wheeler market in India. The Hero Xoom 160, positioned as a flagship model above the Xoom 110 and Xoom 125 variants, will now face off against the Yamaha Aerox 155. It will be interesting to see how these two scooters compare on paper.

Hero Xoom 160 vs Yamaha Aerox 155: Price

The Hero Xoom 160 is priced at ₹1.48 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Yamaha Aerox 155 is available between ₹1.49 lakh and ₹1.53 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes the Hero Xoom 160 more affordable, undercutting the Yamaha Aerox 155 by ₹1,000 to ₹4,000, giving it a competitive edge in the market.

Hero Xoom 160 vs Yamaha Aerox 155: Specifications

The Hero Xoom 160 is equipped with a 156 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, delivering 14.20 bhp of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Meanwhile, the Yamaha Aerox 155 features a similar liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 14.49 bhp of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Both scooters are powered by four-valve, liquid-cooled engines, offering nearly identical peak power outputs and comparable torque at the same rpm.
