BYD Yangwang U8 Concept Unveiled at 2025 Auto Expo

BYD presented its Yangwang U8 Concept Plug-in electric hybrid SUV to attendees at the Auto Expo 2025 held in New Delhi. The manufacturer, based in China, markets this premium vehicle internationally under the Yangwang brand.
The U8 concept showcases a striking and robust design that may initially evoke comparisons to the Range Rover Defender. This vehicle is adorned with a dual-tone paint finish, where the lower section is painted in vibrant colour, while the upper portion is elegantly blacked out.
The back of the vehicle is equipped with a noticeable spare wheel that is adorned with both a silver and body-coloured cover. The tail lights utilize LED technology and showcase a honeycomb design. In contrast to other SUVs that typically feature black cladding, the U8 is distinguished by its silver cladding positioned lower on the body.
The SUV features distinctive horizontal lines located behind the C-pillar, which enhance its character and convey a sense of premium quality. Additionally, the flush door handles contribute to the overall sophistication of the vehicle.
The PHEV is equipped with gloss black alloy wheels, and the ride height of the U8 can be adjusted electronically. It features individual wheel drive technology and can float in water for a duration of up to 30 minutes.
The U8, equipped with its comprehensive hardware, is capable of executing a complete 360-degree tank turn. It is anticipated to deliver an output of 1,164 bhp and is reported to have a range of up to 1,000 km. While HT Auto was not permitted to photograph the interior of BYD's U8 PHEV, it is available with up to three screens within the cabin.
