The Sealion 7 made its Indian debut at the 2025 Auto Expo last month, and pre-bookings have been opened with a nominal fee of ₹70,000. This new model is derived from the Seal electric sedan, which is currently available, and it is expected to deliver a comparable array of features and performance.

BYD Sealion 7 Pre-Booking Offer

Additionally, BYD India has introduced exclusive benefits for the first 70 customers, which include a contribution of ₹70,000 towards the purchase, matching the pre-booking fee. The company is also providing a warranty of 7 years or 15,000 km (whichever comes first) on the battery, along with a complimentary 7 kW charger that includes free installation. This promotional offer is applicable for bookings made until February 17, with deliveries for the Sealion 7 set to begin on March 7, 2025.

The BYD Sealion 7 will be available in two variants - Premium (RWD) and Performance (AWD)

The BYD Sealion 7 will be offered in two configurations: Premium (RWD) and Performance (AWD).

BYD Sealion 7 Specifications

The BYD Sealion 7 is constructed on the e-Platform 3.0, which it shares with the Seal sedan, and will be available in two configurations: Premium and Performance. The Premium configuration features a rear-wheel drive system powered by a single motor located on the rear axle, delivering 230 kW (308 bhp) and 380 Nm of peak torque. In contrast, the Performance configuration boasts an all-wheel drive system with an electric motor on each axle, producing a combined output of 390 kW (523 bhp) and 690 Nm. The RWD variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, while the AWD variant achieves the same in 4.5 seconds.

BYD Sealion 7 Range & Features

The Sealion 7 is fitted with an 82.56 kWh battery pack, providing a range of 567 km for the Premium variant and 542 km for the Performance variant on a single charge, according to the NEDC standard. Notable features include a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, a 12-speaker audio system, a powered tailgate, and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function. Safety features encompass a Level 2 ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, 11 airbags, a Hill Hold Assist, and ISOFIX anchorages, among others.

BYD Sealion 7 Rivals
The BYD Sealion 7 offers a boot capacity of 520 litres, which can be expanded to 58 litres. Its overall design is reminiscent of the Seal sedan, albeit with a raised body to resemble an SUV. Pricing details have yet to be disclosed, but it is anticipated that the Sealion 7 will be slightly more expensive than the Seal. This new electric SUV will compete with models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Mercedes-Benz EQB, BMW iX1, Volvo EX40 Recharge, and others within the segment.
