The BYD Sealion 7 has been officially introduced with a starting price of ₹48.9 lakh. It will be offered in two trim levels: Premium and Performance, with the latter priced at ₹54.90 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. Notably, while bookings for the vehicle began earlier at ₹70,000, this promotional booking amount will remain unchanged until the end of the promotional period. Deliveries of the BYD Sealion 7 are expected to commence in mid-March 2025, and the vehicle has already garnered over 1,000 bookings.

In terms of aesthetics, the BYD Sealion 7 embodies the company’s ‘Ocean Series’ design philosophy. The front features double-U LED headlights, complemented by a blacked-out bumper and a sculpted bonnet. The front bumper is also equipped with air vents designed to cool the battery pack and internal components, as well as a front-facing camera for the 360-degree camera system.

On the side, the Sealion 7 showcases a coupe SUV silhouette with a gently sloping roofline. Additional notable features include flush door handles and 20-inch alloy wheels, with the Performance variant also boasting red brake calipers. At the rear, the electric SUV is designed with a connected tail light configuration and two spoilers—one positioned on the roof and the other on the boot lid. The rear bumper is further enhanced with robust cladding.

BYD Sealion 7: Cabin and features

The Sealion 7 is equipped with an impressive array of features. Notably, both variants of this e-SUV share the same comprehensive set of amenities. The interior showcases a sleek all-black design. At the forefront, it features a flat-bottomed, four-spoke steering wheel, complemented by a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Significantly, all essential functions are managed exclusively through the infotainment system.

Additional highlights include a crystal gear selector and an advanced driver monitoring system. This system employs an infrared camera to track eye movements and facial expressions, effectively identifying signs of drowsiness or distraction. Should it detect a lapse in the driver’s focus, it promptly issues an alert to enhance safety during the drive.

The front seats are upholstered in luxurious Nappa leather and offer electric adjustability, with the driver’s seat featuring an 8-way power adjustment and four-way lumbar support, while the passenger seat provides 6-way power adjustment. Both seats are also equipped with a ventilation function. Furthermore, the cabin boasts a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12-speaker audio system, and a head-up display.

Regarding safety, the SUV is equipped with 11 airbags, distinguishing it as the only vehicle in India with more than 10 airbags. Additionally, it incorporates Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which include features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking.

BYD Sealion 7: Specs

The BYD Sealion 7 is constructed on the advanced e-Platform 3.0, featuring an 82.5 kWh battery pack across all variants. The Performance variant of this SUV is equipped with an all-wheel drive system, incorporating one motor on each axle. This configuration yields an output of 523 bhp and 690 Nm of torque, with a claimed driving range of 542 km. Conversely, the Premium variant also utilizes the same 82.5 kWh battery pack but is configured with a single motor that drives the rear wheels. This variant generates 308 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, while its range extends to 567 km.

BYD Sealion 7: Rivals

The BYD Sealion 7 has emerged as the new flagship model for the brand within the country, taking over the position previously held by the Seal sedan, which was introduced last year. This new electric SUV is set to compete against notable models in the segment, including the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Mercedes-Benz EQB, BMW iX1, and Volvo EX40 Recharge, among others.
