The BYD Sealion 7 is scheduled for launch on February 17, 2025. This model will serve as the flagship vehicle for the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer and will mark the fifth entry into the Indian passenger electric vehicle market. The electric SUV was initially unveiled to the Indian audience at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.

The BYD Sealion 7 is designed as a four-door battery electric SUV with a fastback silhouette, characterized by a roofline that gently slopes downward. Its design philosophy aligns with that of the Atto 3 and the Seal. The vehicle is equipped with sleek, sweptback LED headlights and LED daytime running lights (DRL). The wheel arches are accentuated with black cladding, and the rear features wraparound taillights linked by an LED strip. Additionally, the BYD Sealion 7 includes a dual-tone rear bumper and a spoiler, and it will be available in four distinct colour options.

The BYD Sealion 7 will be available in two variants: Premium and Performance. Notably, while both variants will be priced differently, they will share the same set of features. However, there will be one significant distinction between them. Below is a brief overview of the similarities and differences between the two variants of the BYD Sealion 7.

BYD Sealion 7: Premium variant

The BYD Sealion 7 Premium will serve as the base model of the electric SUV lineup. It will feature a flat-bottom steering wheel, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system. Additional interior amenities will include a panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, two-zone automatic climate control, a 12-speaker audio system, and a head-up display. Furthermore, it will be equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite and a driver monitoring system.

Externally, the Sealion 7 Premium will closely resemble the Performance trim, with one notable exception: it will not feature the ‘4.5s’ badge on the rear, as this variant will utilize a rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration. While the battery capacity will remain at 82.5 kWh, the power output will be rated at 308 bhp and 380 Nm of maximum torque. The Sealion 7 Premium is expected to offer a range of 567 km on a single charge. Another distinguishing factor on the exterior will be the absence of red brake callipers.

BYD Sealion 7: Performance variant

In contrast, the BYD Sealion 7 Performance variant will be equipped with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system, featuring one motor on both the front and rear axles. This top-tier Performance model, also utilizing the 82.5 kWh battery pack, is anticipated to provide a range of 523 km, with a power output of 523 bhp and 690 Nm of peak torque. BYD asserts that the Performance variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

The primary distinction between the Performance and Premium variants lies in the exterior; the Performance model will display a ‘4.5s’ badge on the rear and feature red brake callipers, which the Premium variant lacks. However, both variants will share the same set of interior features.
