BMW Skytop Concept Spotted in Disguise: A Rare Glimpse from Munich
3 days ago | 5 Views
BMW's forthcoming ultra-luxury roadster, the Concept Skytop, has been observed undergoing tests in Munich following its recent high-altitude evaluations in the Alps. This exclusive convertible, limited to only 50 units, maintains the eye-catching design of the concept car and is equipped with BMW's most powerful V8 engine.
BMW Concept Skytop: Exterior
The Skytop remains faithful to its heritage, merging traditional BMW design elements with innovative features. At the forefront, the iconic shark-nose profile, drawing inspiration from the renowned 507 and Z8 Roadsters, is a prominent aspect of its design. The aggressive appearance is further accentuated by an illuminated kidney grille and sleek LED headlights, which have been retained from the concept version. The rear of the vehicle is highlighted by ultra-slim LED taillights and exceptionally narrow headlamps, which BMW’s design chief Adrian van Hooydonk has noted as the slimmest ever featured on a BMW production model.
BMW Concept Skytop: Interior
Within the Skytop, luxury is evident through its reddish-brown, brogue-style leather interior. The meticulously crafted cockpit, developed by BMW’s skilled saddlery team in Dingolfing, adheres to a two-seat configuration and opts for the previous-generation iDrive 7 instead of the latest iDrive 8, preserving physical controls. Crystal details and high-quality materials create a harmonious connection between the exterior and interior, particularly when the roof is lowered.
BMW Concept Skytop: Engine
The Skytop is equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 617 horsepower, which is on par with the M8 Competition and slightly less than the M5 CS. It is coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 3.3 seconds.
Regarding the BMW Concept Skytop's availability and delivery schedule, this model follows the tradition of the custom-built BMW 3.0 CSL and is being meticulously crafted through a specialized manufacturing process that allows for significant personalization. Despite its impressive price of €500,000 (approximately ₹4.61 crore), all 50 units have already been sold. Deliveries are expected to commence before the end of 2025, making this one of BMW's most exclusive and limited-edition offerings.
