The global unveiling of the BMW R 1300 R is scheduled for today, April 10. This motorcycle, designed primarily for road use, features the brand's acclaimed boxer engine. The new model is expected to introduce substantial enhancements in performance, design, and technology. BMW Motorrad, the German manufacturer, is pursuing an ambitious product expansion strategy, following the recent launch of the R 12 G/S.

BMW R 1300 R: Design

The teaser image unveiled by the manufacturer provides an insight into the motorcycle's refreshed design approach. The newly designed headlamp, featuring angled LED daytime running lights, enhances its unique and contemporary look. Although the overall shape is similar to that of the previous R 1250 R, especially at the front and rear, the midsection is anticipated to be considerably more streamlined due to the updated engine and chassis configuration.

Promotional slogans from BMW Motorrad, including "Born for Bends" and "Boxer Punch on Every Curve," highlight the R 1300 R's emphasis on nimble and dynamic riding performance.

BMW R 1300 R: Engine and performance

Central to the forthcoming R 1300 R is the same 1,300 cc air- and liquid-cooled boxer-twin engine found in the R 1300 GS. In its current configuration on the adventure motorcycle, this engine generates 141 bhp and 149 Nm of torque. However, the R 1300 R is anticipated to incorporate a modified tuning setup designed to enhance its on-road performance. Initial reports indicate that the power output may be slightly increased, potentially reaching up to 145 horsepower.

Additionally, BMW is likely to offer its cutting-edge Automated Shift Assistant as an optional feature, delivering a semi-automatic transmission experience that aims to enhance rider comfort and convenience.

BMW R 1300 R: Specifications

To support the revised powertrain, the R 1300 R is expected to be built on a newly designed chassis. This structural enhancement is projected to facilitate the efficient integration of the more compact engine while also decreasing the motorcycle's kerb weight, leading to enhanced handling and agility. Additionally, the motorcycle may incorporate new suspension systems, wheels, and instrumentation, setting it apart from the previous model.

Premium versions of the R 1300 R are anticipated to offer advanced features, including electronic suspension and a blind spot detection system.

BMW R 1300 R: Will it come to India?

The BMW R 1300 R will be launched for the European and North American markets. However, there is no word on an India-specific launch. Given the premium nature of the motorcycle and the expected technology package, the R 1300 R is likely to be positioned at the higher end of the pricing spectrum.
