BMW India Accelerates with 7% Growth in Q1 2025 – EV Sales Surge 200%!

BMW Group India has announced its sales figures for the first quarter of 2025 (January to March), revealing a seven percent increase in sales volume. During this period, the company sold 3,914 vehicles (including BMW and MINI) and 1,373 motorcycles under the BMW Motorrad brand. The automaker noted that each month achieved record sales figures. Additionally, electric vehicle sales experienced significant growth, with a remarkable 200 percent increase in volume compared to the previous quarter.

BMW EV sales in Q1 2025

In terms of electric vehicle sales for Q1 2025, BMW reported the delivery of 646 EVs (BMW and MINI), marking a substantial 206 percent rise year-on-year. The company launched the BMW iX1 at the Auto Expo 2025 in January, priced attractively at ₹49 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). The new electric SUV has generated considerable interest, with over 1,500 orders placed.

Strong Demand for Long-Wheelbase Vehicles  

BMW reported a remarkable 187 percent increase in sales of its long-wheelbase vehicles. The company boasts one of the most extensive long-wheelbase offerings in India, which includes the 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, and the newly introduced iX1. Additionally, BMW noted that the 3 Series LWB and 5 Series LWB emerged as the top sellers in their respective categories during Q1 2025. Currently, long-wheelbase models contribute approximately 30 percent to BMW's total sales in India.

The demand for BMW's premium lineup remains robust, with the company indicating that nearly one in five vehicles sold in Q1 2025 was a high-end model. The BMW 7 Series continues to dominate the ultra-luxury limousine market, outperforming the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, while interest in the X7 has also surged, according to the manufacturer.

BMW X1 Leads SUV Sales  

In Q1 2025, SUVs made up 55 percent of BMW's overall sales, with 2,079 units sold, reflecting an 11 percent year-on-year growth. The BMW X1 was the brand's top-selling SUV, representing 30 percent of the total SUV sales. Furthermore, MINI recorded 150 units sold in the last quarter, with the MINI Cooper S emerging as the brand's best-selling model, more than doubling its sales compared to the previous year.

In the first quarter of 2025, BMW Motorrad India reported the sale of 1,373 motorcycles. The BMW G 310 RR emerged as the top seller within the brand's more economical lineup, while the BMW R 900 GS and GSA led sales in the category of fully imported models.
