BMW Group India Achieves Record Sales in 2024 with 15,721 Vehicles Delivered

The BMW Group India, a prominent luxury automobile manufacturer, has declared its record annual sales in India for the year 2024. The company reported a total of 15,721 units sold, encompassing BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad, marking an 11 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
Furthermore, BMW achieved its highest sales figures in a calendar year, with 15,012 units sold in 2024, reflecting a 13 per cent year-on-year growth. This achievement also included the company's best-ever sales for the fourth quarter. Notably, BMW experienced significant growth in its high-end luxury segment, which includes models such as the BMW 7 Series, i7, X7, and XM.
In total, 2,507 units of luxury vehicles were sold, representing an 8 per cent growth rate. The company noted that nearly one in five cars sold by BMW in India during 2024 was a premium model. The BMW X7 continued to be the top-selling luxury vehicle, with 1,570 units sold, achieving a 4 per cent year-on-year increase. Since its introduction, over 5,000 units of the BMW X7 have been delivered in the Indian market.
Additionally, the BMW 7 Series recorded sales of 865 units, reflecting a 15 per cent growth. The BMW 3 Series emerged as the best-selling sedan, capturing a 20 per cent share of total sales. The newly launched BMW 5 Series long wheelbase also performed well, achieving over 1,000 deliveries within six months of its release.
Moreover, the company delivered 875 units from its BMW M division, with the BMW M340i being the top-selling model in this category. Since its launch, more than 1,000 units of the BMW M340i have been sold in India.
BMW SUV and EV sales
BMW Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) accounted for 56 percent of total sales, with 8,351 units sold during the calendar year, reflecting a 16 percent increase in deliveries of BMW SAVs. The BMW X5 achieved its highest annual sales to date, with 2,056 units sold, marking an impressive 89 percent year-over-year growth. The BMW X1 emerged as the most popular SAV, capturing over 20 percent of sales and being recognized as the top-selling vehicle in the Indian premium compact SAV segment.
In the realm of electric vehicles, 1,249 units of fully electric BMW and Mini cars were delivered in 2024. The BMW i7 led its class in sales, with 384 units sold throughout the year. Additionally, BMW Group India surpassed 3,000 electric vehicle deliveries, becoming the first luxury car manufacturer in the country to achieve this milestone, with the BMW iX alone selling over 1,000 units since its introduction.
BMW Group India currently offers a range of six electric cars and two electric scooters, which include the BMW i7, BMW iX, BMW i5, BMW i4, BMW iX1, MINI Countryman Electric, BMW CE 04, and BMW CE 02.
Mini and BMW Motorrad sales
Mini, a division of the BMW Group, experienced significant growth during the calendar year. The company reported the delivery of 709 units in 2024. Notably, the MINI 3-Door Cooper S achieved its highest sales figures to date, totaling 250 units, which represents a remarkable 77 percent year-over-year increase.
In parallel, BMW Motorrad recorded the sale of 8,301 motorcycles in 2024. The brand achieved its highest-ever half-year sales from July to December, with 4,687 units sold, reflecting a 14 percent year-over-year growth. Additionally, with 1,041 units sold in 2024, the manufacturer reached its best annual sales performance for its completely built-up motorcycle portfolio.
