2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG Starts arriving at dealerships
Maruti Suzuki introduced the latest generation of the Dzire sub-compact sedan in India earlier this month. The fourth-generation Dzire is priced starting at Rs. 6.79 lakh (ex-showroom). In addition to the petrol-only variant, the new Dzire is also offered with a petrol-CNG option. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG has begun to reach dealerships nationwide. This CNG variant is available in the VXi and ZXi trims, with the pricing for the petrol-CNG bi-fuel version commencing at ₹8.74 lakh (ex-showroom).
GST Council hikes tax on used, old electric vehicles
The Goods and Services Tax Council, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and including representatives from all states and Union Territories, has resolved to raise the tax rate on pre-owned electric vehicles to 18 percent as of Saturday. The GST Council has clarified that this updated tax rate will not affect individual sellers, but will apply to businesses engaged in the sale of used electric vehicles. This increase represents a significant rise, as the previous tax rate for used electric vehicles was set at 12 percent. Consequently, the six percent increase in GST will have implications for buyers purchasing these vehicles from dealerships.

Toyota is considering the possibility of rebranding its sole electric vehicle currently in production. The Toyota bZ4X, which was presented in India during the Auto Expo 2023, bears a name that resembles a random designation for a stormtrooper from the Star Wars franchise and is expected to be renamed. The Japanese automaker is actively engaged in the process of rebranding this electric car.
