GRAP III revoked in Delhi as AQI dips below 300

On February 3, 2025, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced the removal of GRAP stage 3 restrictions in Delhi. This decision was prompted by a decrease in the Air Quality Index (AQI) levels in the Delhi NCR region, which dropped to 286, a reduction of 64 points from the 350-point threshold set by the Supreme Court for the enforcement of GRAP 3 measures. Under the previous Stage 3 restrictions, the operation of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles (four-wheelers) was prohibited in Delhi and the surrounding NCR districts, although individuals with disabilities were exempt from this regulation. Additionally, Stage 3 imposed a ban on non-essential diesel-operated medium goods vehicles that met BS-IV or older standards within Delhi. Violations of these regulations could result in fines of up to ₹20,000 imposed by the Traffic Police. With the lifting of these restrictions, road users are now permitted to operate these vehicles throughout the Delhi NCR area.
