The automotive sector is characterized by its swift evolution, which can make it difficult to remain updated. Nevertheless, there is a commitment to delivering prompt information regarding important advancements in the industry. Below is a summary of the key highlights from Friday, February 28.

Aston Martin Vanquish launch date revealed

Aston Martin has announced the launch date for the Vanquish in the Indian market, scheduled for March 22. The new flagship model was unveiled globally in September of the previous year, with production limited to just 1,000 units annually. The 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish features a custom chassis, carbon fiber bodywork, an opulent interior, and a V12 engine.

The wheelbase has been increased by 80 mm, and the chassis has been upgraded with a more robust engine cross brace, enhancing torsional rigidity and lateral stiffness between the front suspension towers. As a result, the overall stiffness has been improved compared to the Bilstein DTX dampers, which have been specially tuned for the Vanquish. Furthermore, the chassis roll stiffness has been enhanced by the addition of larger-diameter anti-roll bars (ARB).

BMW 3 Series LWB launched

BMW India has launched the new BMW 3 Series Long Wheelbase (LWB) in the Indian market, with a starting price of ₹62.60 lakh (ex-showroom). This luxury sedan will be manufactured locally at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai. Initially, it will be available in a petrol variant, specifically the BMW 330Li M Sport, while a diesel engine option is anticipated to be introduced in the near future.

In addition, BMW has unveiled the Service Inclusive and Service Inclusive Plus packages designed to reduce ownership costs. These packages include Condition-Based Service (CBS) and maintenance services, with options starting at three years or 40,000 kilometers, extendable up to ten years or 200,000 kilometers. Customers also have the choice to opt for extended warranty coverage for a period of up to ten years.

Hero files design patent for a new electric motorcycle

Hero MotoCorp has applied for a design patent for a new electric motorcycle, suggesting that this vehicle is linked to Vida, the electric division of Hero MotoCorp. It is important to note that the filing of a design patent does not ensure that the company will produce the motorcycle. Manufacturers frequently file design patents to protect their design ideas.

Moreover, Hero MotoCorp has established a partnership with Zero Motorcycles, a California-based producer of electric two-wheelers. The design patent indicates that the motorcycle features minimal bodywork, a streamlined profile, a long and narrow single-piece seat, and sharply defined body panels. Additionally, it includes a traditional swingarm, a beak-like front fender, lever guards, and a tubular handlebar.
