On Wednesday, Maruti Suzuki India revealed that its board has approved the construction of a third manufacturing plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana, with an investment of ₹7,410 crore. This new facility is projected to have an annual production capacity of up to 250,000 vehicles, thereby raising the company's overall production capacity to 750,000 vehicles each year.
In its regulatory filing, the company indicated that the existing production capacity at the Kharkhoda site stands at 250,000 units per year. Furthermore, another plant with a similar capacity is currently being built, as mentioned in the regulatory document. Maruti Suzuki also operates three additional manufacturing plants, two in Haryana and one in Gujarat, in addition to the upcoming Kharkhoda facility.
Volkswagen Golf GTI to be sold online only
Volkswagen India has officially begun accepting pre-bookings for the Tiguan R-Line. Alongside this announcement, the company disclosed that the Golf GTI will be sold solely through an online platform. The Golf GTI will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which will limit its availability.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI features a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 245 bhp and a peak torque of 370 Nm. It is equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that drives the front wheels, and it also includes paddle shifters for manual transmission control.
