Audi India has announced a voluntary recall for the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT performance electric vehicles within the country. This recall impacts 31 units of both models that were sold, and produced between January 9, 2020, and February 16, 2024. The issue pertains to the battery module, which may have exhibited irregularities during manufacturing, potentially resulting in a fire risk. Certain individual cell modules within the battery pack may show technical discrepancies, which could cause the battery to overheat and present "an acute fire hazard."

In its report, Audi stated that "the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT produced during the specified timeframe may have individual cell modules within the high-voltage battery that exhibit technical anomalies. It is possible that the battery module supplier encountered specific irregularities during the production of the affected vehicles. The Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT are being introduced in India as completely built units (CBU). Although Audi has yet to issue an official statement, it is anticipated that the company will contact customers directly to address the issue and implement the required solutions.
