With only a few days remaining to execute its IPO (Initial Public Offering), Ather Energy achieved a notable milestone, capturing a 15 percent market share in India’s electric scooter sector in the last quarter (January to March) of FY2025. The electric two-wheeler manufacturer’s market share increased from approximately 11 percent in Q3 (October to December) FY2025, with its new family e-scooter, the Rizta, leading the sales rankings. In contrast, competitor Ola Electric’s market share dropped to 21 percent in the final quarter, down from 30 percent.

Ather Energy experienced the most significant increase quarter-on-quarter among the top four companies in the electric scooter market. South India continued to be the manufacturer’s foundation and its strongest market nationwide, with Karnataka and Tamil Nadu at the forefront, providing Ather with double-digit growth. Conversely, sales in Gujarat saw a notable increase from five percent in July 2024 to 25 percent in December of the previous year. Likewise, sales in Maharashtra recorded double-digit growth between September and March, according to Vahan sales data.

The Rizta has helped drive Ather's overall volumes up in the last quarter with the brand placed fourth in the top four e-scooter sellers in the country

The Rizta has contributed to increasing Ather's total sales in the previous quarter, positioning the brand in fourth place among the leading e-scooter sellers in the nation. The Rizta successfully opened up the northern region for Ather, particularly in Delhi. Vahan sales data indicates that Ather gained a 15 percent market share in the national capital, an increase of 7 percent compared to the previous year, surpassing the segment leader Bajaj.

Ather Rizta Highlights

The Ather Rizta has played a crucial role in assisting the manufacturer to establish a solid presence in various markets. It is also more rounded with battery choices of 2. 9 kWh and 3. 7 kWh offering a maximum range of 160 km (IDC) on one charge.

The Rizta is aimed at family-oriented purchasers who also value a tech-enhanced scooter, which is the reason it features a tech-forward digital console (non-touchscreen), along with additional functionalities like Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Skid Control, Fall-Safe shutdown, WhatsApp notifications, Alexa voice commands, and more.
