6 days ago | 5 Views
The 2025 Volvo XC90 has been introduced in India with a starting price of ₹1.03 crore, ex-showroom. In contrast to its predecessor, the latest model is available exclusively in a single trim level, the B5 Ultra. As is typical with facelifts, the new XC90 preserves its overall design and mechanical framework while incorporating various enhancements.
The 2025 XC90 retains the same hybrid powertrain option but introduces numerous improvements in features and design. This updated model continues to compete with rivals such as the Audi Q7, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and BMW X3. Below are the distinctions between the new XC90 and the previous version.
Volvo XC90: Exterior Modifications
The redesigned Volvo XC90 keeps its familiar silhouette but features several design modifications. The front grille now showcases diagonal slats, and the 'Thor's Hammer' LED headlights have been streamlined. The front bumper has been updated with vertical air intakes, and the newly styled 20-inch alloy wheels enhance its overall look.
At the rear, the bumper has been refined with sharper contours, and while the LED taillights maintain a similar shape, they have been enhanced. Additionally, a new integrated rear spoiler has been introduced. Volvo has also launched a new Mulberry Red color option, complementing existing colors such as Onyx Black, Crystal White, Denim Blue, Bright Dusk, and Vapour Grey.
Volvo XC90: Interior updates
The most prominent alteration within the interior is the introduction of a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which replaces the former 9-inch display. This upgraded screen features enhanced resolution and operates on Google-powered software, equipped with over-the-air (OTA) update capabilities.
Additional modifications include increased storage capacity, an extra cup holder, and a newly positioned wireless charging pad. The options for leather upholstery have also been refreshed, with black, off-white, and light brown now available, replacing the earlier maroon and brown selections. The XC90 continues to offer features such as a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and an air purifier equipped with a PM2.5 filter.
The safety features remain consistent, as the SUV retains its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which include an electronic parking brake and lane-keeping assist.
Volvo XC90: Specifications
There are no mechanical modifications in the revised XC90. It maintains the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, generating 253 bhp and 360 Nm of torque. The all-wheel-drive system remains unchanged, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 180 km/h.
