Tata Motors has introduced the refreshed Tigor sub-compact sedan on Thursday, January 9, featuring numerous enhancements. Competing with models such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Hyundai Aura within the sub-compact category, the Tigor is priced starting at ₹6 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most economical sedan available in this segment. Additionally, it boasts the widest range of powertrains among its competitors, including fully-electric and CNG variants.

The 2025 Tata Tigor maintains its fundamental shape and structure while incorporating subtle cosmetic updates. Although the design closely resembles that of the previous model, the features list has undergone significant revisions. The Tigor becomes the third sedan in this segment to receive a facelift or new generation update, following the recent launches of the Honda Amaze and Maruti Suzuki Dzire late last year. The Hyundai Aura remains the only model in this segment awaiting a facelift. A brief comparison of the 2025 Tigor with the new Amaze and Dzire sedans regarding price, engine specifications, and features is provided.

Tata has revised the pricing of the Tigor alongside other modifications. The base XE variant has been substituted with the XM variant, which now serves as the entry-level option for the sedan. Additionally, a new top-tier variant, the XZ Plus Lux, has been introduced, priced at ₹8.50 lakh. The cost of the XZ Plus variant has risen by ₹10,000, bringing its price to ₹7.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tigor CNG facelift has also been launched, featuring two new variants. The previous base XM variant has been replaced by the new XT variant, which is priced at ₹7.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The new top-end variant, XZ Plus Lux, is available at ₹9.50 lakh, while the XZ Plus is priced at ₹8.90 lakh.

The Tigor stands as the most economical sub-compact sedan in India, being approximately ₹50,000 less expensive than the Aura, around ₹80,000 cheaper than the new Dzire, and nearly ₹1.20 lakh more affordable than the new Amaze. The latest generation of the Honda Amaze starts at ₹7.19 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹10.90 lakh (ex-showroom) for the highest variant. The new Dzire is priced between ₹6.80 lakh and ₹10.14 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Hyundai Aura ranges from ₹6.48 lakh to ₹9.11 lakh (ex-showroom).

2025 Tata Tigor vs Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire: Engine, transmission, power comparison

Tata has made no modifications to the mechanical aspects of the 2025 Tigor facelift sedan. It retains the 1.2-litre petrol engine, which can be paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or an automatic gearbox. This engine produces 85 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque. In the CNG variant, the power output is reduced to approximately 72 bhp and 95 Nm of torque.

The 2024 Dzire is now fitted with a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z series petrol engine, available with either a five-speed manual transmission or an AMT. This engine delivers 80 bhp of power and 111 Nm of peak torque. The CNG variant of the Dzire offers a peak power of 69 bhp and a maximum torque of 102 Nm. The Amaze features a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 89 bhp of power and 110 Nm of peak torque. It is available with a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic transmission. Notably, the Amaze is the only model in this segment that does not provide a CNG powertrain.

Tata has maintained a design for the exterior of the Tigor that closely resembles its predecessor, incorporating only minor modifications such as updates to the front grille and bumpers. The interior largely retains its previous layout, although it now includes new features such as a smart steering wheel with illumination and a fully digital driver display as standard. Additionally, Tata has added new fabric seats, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and rear parking sensors to the sedan. The newly introduced XZ Plus Lux variant features a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, a shark fin antenna, automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, and cruise control, among other enhancements.

In comparison to the updated Tigor, the Amaze and Dzire offer a more extensive array of features. Both competitors present segment-first offerings, such as an electric sunroof in the Dzire and ADAS technology in the Amaze. However, it is noteworthy that both the Dzire and Amaze are equipped with smaller infotainment screens than the new Tigor. The Dzire features a 9-inch display, which is approximately one inch larger than that found in the new Amaze.
