BMW has just unveiled the 2025 iX facelift electric SUV for markets around the world. The German automaker has made several updates to the EV, including new variants and battery options. The current iX model available in India is set to be replaced by this refreshed version later this year, following its launch in Europe and the US.
The revamped BMW iX will compete with heavyweights like the Mercedes-Benz EQS, Audi e-tron, Jaguar iPace, and Tesla Model X in the global arena. In India, the iX was the top-selling luxury EV in 2023 until it was surpassed by the BMW i7. It holds the title of the priciest BMW electric SUV, retailing at ₹1.39 crore (ex-showroom). Positioned above the entry-level iX1, it’s part of BMW's expanding EV lineup, which also features models like the i4 and i5.
BMW iX makeover: Fresh options
BMW has rolled out the iX electric SUV in three versions: the xDrive40, xDrive50, and M60. The updated model will come with three fresh variants: the base xDrive45, the mid-tier xDrive60, and the high-end M70 xDrive.
BMW iX update: Bigger battery, increased range
The 2025 BMW iX facelift electric SUV comes with three battery options: a 94.8 kWh pack and two larger ones at 108.9 kWh and 109.1 kWh. The base model of the iX facelift will see a 30 percent boost in battery capacity. BMW claims that these new batteries allow the iX to achieve around 25 percent more range than its predecessor.
As for the range, the iX facelift electric SUV can go anywhere from 602 km to 701 km on a single charge, depending on the variant. In India, the xDrive50 version of this electric SUV offers a range of up to 635 km.
BMW iX update: Enhanced performance and charging capabilities
BMW has really stepped up the game with the facelift of their electric SUV. The base model now packs a punch with 402 bhp, a nice jump from the previous 322 bhp, and delivers a solid 700 Nm of peak torque. The mid-tier version cranks it up to 536 bhp and 765 Nm of torque, while the high-end M70 xDrive variant boasts an impressive 650 bhp, which is a 40 bhp increase, along with a jaw-dropping 1,100 Nm of peak torque thanks to its Launch Control feature. This EV can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and has an electronically capped top speed of 250 km/h.
For charging, the mid and top variants of the iX facelift can handle up to 195 kW with DC fast chargers, while the entry-level model supports fast charging at 175 kWh.
