Bajaj Auto, the Indian manufacturer of two-wheelers, is preparing to unveil the updated version of its electric scooter, the Chetak, on December 20. The Bajaj Chetak EV was initially introduced in 2020 and has maintained a consistent visual appearance since its launch. Presently, there are seven variants of the Chetak available. With the upcoming model, Bajaj is anticipated to implement design improvements as well as enhancements to features and overall practicality.

2024 Bajaj Chetak: Current Insights and Information.

Bajaj refers to the forthcoming Chetak as "The Best Chetak Yet." Although specific details remain limited, the next-generation Bajaj Chetak is anticipated to feature a newly engineered chassis that will provide significant enhancements, including the potential for increased under-seat storage. Currently, the Chetak offers approximately 21 liters of under-seat storage, which ranks among the lowest in its category. The manufacturer is likely to relocate the battery beneath the floorboard, akin to the designs of the Ather Rizta and TVS iQube.

This update to the electric scooter is also expected to introduce a reimagined battery pack, which may deliver an extended range while maintaining a similar capacity to the existing models. The current Bajaj Chetak provides a range of 123 km to 137 km, depending on the variant.

2024 Bajaj Chetak: Updated Variants.

Recent spy images of the Bajaj Chetak have revealed that the model will incorporate a round LED headlight, curvaceous body panels, and a pronounced rear profile. These images suggest that the upcoming update will introduce a more budget-friendly variant of the electric scooter. This new iteration will forgo certain features, resulting in reduced specifications and range.

Furthermore, this variant will be equipped with steel wheels and will utilize drum brakes at both the front and rear. It will lack a lockable glove compartment and will instead include a physical ignition key slot. Notably, the new version is anticipated to feature a monochrome LCD instrument cluster, replacing the TFT display available in the higher-end Chetak models.

The Bajaj Chetak has garnered popularity among consumers due to its straightforward design and appealing aesthetics. The electric scooter has maintained its relevance and continues to appear modern and lively, even with the emergence of newer competitors in recent years.

The pricing for the next-generation Bajaj Chetak is expected to see a slight adjustment compared to the existing model. Currently, the e-scooter is priced between ₹96,000 and ₹1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
